Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to take an aerial photograph of a patch of woodland in Bracknell, Berkshire, for the local council as it is home to a unique population of rhododendron plants. Taking off from a neighbouring rugby pitch, our drone was flown up to 400 feet (its maximum permissible altitude) and captured a range of different overview photographs of the woodland, one of which is shown on the right. As well as providing an interesting viewpoint of the woodland, this image will primarily be used on an information board in the visitor’s car park – overlaid with boundaries, footpaths and areas of interest.

David Hogg from Horizon Imaging has always been passionate about caring for the environment. Last September Horizon Imaging started offsetting all carbon emissions from our car when travelling to and from our customers’ sites, from the gas and electricity used in our office, and from all non-recycleable waste sent to landfill (see our blog post here). Now we have gone not one – but two steps further.

Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to take a set of aerial photographs of a number of farm buildings in Cobham, Surrey for Strutt & Parker Estate Agents.

David Hogg from Horizon Imaging recently gave a talk at Bookham Camera Club on Drone Aerial Photography. The evening was split into two halves, with a flying demonstration in the first half and a talk on the history and current state-of-the-art in drones in the second half.

We often get requests from clients to use our versatile drone aerial photography platform for taking aerial photographs in built-up areas. Unfortunately, this is fraught with difficulties – both practical and legal. This post aims to clarify the rules and regulations that surround the use of drones in built-up areas like towns and cities.

Just as it took great skill in the darkroom to make the most of photographs captured on film, it takes great skill to turn a raw digital photograph into an eye-catching image which pops out at the viewer – taking the photo is merely the first step in a long digital ‘developing’ process. Nigel Biggs started Passionate Innovation over 5 years ago in order to help small to medium companies think ‘outside the box’ when trying to develop new ideas to grow their business – or as Nigel puts it, thinking ‘inside someone else’s box’!

Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to take some aerial photographs of the grounds at Kingswood House School in Epsom, Surrey. From the roadside, the school only appears to consist of a few relatively small brick buildings. However, as soon as you walk behind these buildings, you are greeted by enormous open playing fields, tennis courts and several newly constructed buildings. The school was keen to advertise this fact, but without an aerial perspective it was hard for them to convey the full extent of the grounds in a single image.

Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to photograph a beautiful tennis club nestling at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex. Storrington Tennis Club offers its members an idyllic setting, surrounded by beautiful countryside, a vineyard, the peace garden of the local monastery and the charming village of Storrington. The views towards the South Downs from the club are quite exceptional, which is one of the main reasons Horizon Imaging was approached – to take a set of aerial photographs to help support the club’s claim that they are ‘Probably the prettiest tennis club in West Sussex’!

Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to photograph a collection of industrial units for Capital Industrial, an asset management company based in Central London. We visited 9 sites over a period of two days, taking elevated aerial photographs with our telescopic mast, and ground-based architectural photographs inside and outside the units
