From the changing of the seasons to manufacturing processes, the versatility and engagement of this type of film is top notch. So it’s no surprise that time-lapse is widely used to promote building developments and projects. Visually, it’s spectacular to watch structures spring out of the ground, but could time-lapse offer even more benefits to the construction industry, benefits that can be easily overlooked? - [What is a customer vision film and why are they so powerful?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-is-a-customer-vision-film-and-why-are-they-so-powerful/): Here at Horizon Imaging, we create films and portfolio imagery for many different sectors for a variety of purposes. One aspect that all our work has in common is that it is designed to convey a message. That might be to explain processes, document progress, or showcase expertise. For customer vision films, it’s all about the deeper message. These films must reflect the core beliefs and visions of an organisation or project in every production element. To get them right, you have to really understand what you’re trying to create and why they’re necessary. - [Will virtual building tours ever replace visiting in person?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/will-virtual-building-tours-ever-replace-real-life-experiences/): The onward march of technology can feel rather relentless at times! News stories love to worry us with tales of how simulations and AI will replace everyday parts of real world living. It’s often a massive exaggeration, but as they say, there’s no smoke without fire. So we want to take a look at the role of 3D modelling and Virtual Reality (VR) in building tours. Could it ever actually replace real life contact, or is it simply a helpful addition to the property, construction, and maintenance industries? - [Photographs and video footage – why the construction industry can benefit from both](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/still-photography-or-moving-images-which-works-best-for-the-construction-industry/): It’s clear that images are a key communication tool in the construction industry. Imagery plays an essential role in tracking progress, ensuring safety, achieving sales, and communicating with clients. Like any other part of business and communication, strategy is crucial to optimise business success. So which styles of imagery work best for the construction industry? Should you prioritise still photography or moving images? - [Why time-lapse photography is a key part of content marketing campaigns ](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/why-time-lapse-photography-is-a-key-part-of-content-marketing-campaigns/): Some of our professional camera equipment in use on some photo and video shoots. Click to enlarge. - [The Importance Of Having The Right Tool For The Job](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/the-importance-of-having-the-right-tool-for-the-job/): Every industry has its tools. Whether it’s software for accountants, beds for massage therapists or actual tools for tradespeople. There is an endless range of tools available to do the job, and they will vary depending on what you need to do. The same goes for photographers and videographers. Like pretty much any business, there is a seemingly endless supply of equipment and tools available to help you capture professional photographs and videos. But this does means if you want to try and do this work for yourself instead of hiring a professional, it can be a bit overwhelming! So let us talk you through just some of the equipment we use, and why we use it. - [Why Portfolios Matter To the Property Industry](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/why-portfolios-matter-to-the-property-industry/): At Horizon Imaging we work with many businesses in the property and construction sectors. Property developers, construction companies and architects – all involved in designing and building properties of all sorts of shapes and sizes. When we speak to these companies, one thing often comes up in conversation – they're often not very good at getting round to getting their latest projects photographed. - [A Thank You Note From Us …](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/a-thank-you-note-from-us/): It’s a new year (ok so technically it's already February but it still feels like a new year!), which for many people means looking forward to what the next year will hold. We're certainly doing some of that, but we also wanted to take a moment to look back and reflect. Not just on the last 12 months, but on the last 16 years we’ve been in business, and all the amazing clients we’ve worked with. - [Common Misconceptions About Time-Lapse Filming](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/common-misconceptions-about-time-lapse-filming/): Time-lapse filming is something that has been around for a good while now, and certain industries have been using it with great success. We’ve seen a particular demand for time-lapse filming of construction projects since we introduced our time-lapse filming service back in 2020, and we always love working on construction sites! However, when a client mentioned that they thought construction projects was the only relevant application for time-lapse filming, it made us realise there are still some misconceptions out there about its applications. So today, we’ve got our myth-busting hats on and we’re ready to set you straight!  - [What Is A Drone Roof Inspection And Why Would You Need One?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-is-a-drone-roof-inspection-and-why-would-you-need-one/): When was the last time you thought about your roof? It’s the thing that keeps you warm and dry, and yet many people don’t give it a second thought until something goes wrong, even if they own the building. But whether you own a single house, a church or a sprawling shopping centre, knowing the condition of your roof is incredibly important. You need to know if there is any damage that needs to be repaired, to provide evidence if you’re making an insurance claim, or to confirm with authorities that your building meets health and safety code. - [Why Use A Professional Photographer In The First Place?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/why-use-a-professional-photographer-in-the-first-place/): ‘Why should I hire a photographer when I can just take a photo with my phone?’ - [Why Build A Long Term Relationship With Your Videographer?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/why-build-a-long-term-relationship-with-your-videographer/): When it comes to choosing service providers for your business, there are a lot of things for you to consider. And once you’ve chosen someone, you have to decide whether you would use them again. There are many reasons you might want to vary your suppliers from project to project. Budget, service offering, customer service or even just personal preference. But we're here today to tell you that your photographer and videographer shouldn’t be one of them. Instead, you should aim for the opposite – to choose a supplier and build a long-lasting, strong relationship with them. Here’s why. - [What Makes A Good Promotional Video?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-makes-a-good-promotional-video/): Whether it's Instagram Stories, YouTube Shorts, or the now infamous TikTok, 2022 is yet another year where the marketing sphere is being dominated by video. The buzz around video in the business world has been growing louder and louder over the last few years, with more businesses realising that video is often the key to success online. Which really is not that much of a surprise, since Google tells you that video is a preferred type of content for its search engine ranking algorithms! - [Professional Chefs and Photographers – They’re More Alike Than You Think!](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/professional-chefs-and-photographers-theyre-more-alike-than-you-think/): When you go to a Michelin-starred restaurant, you go there because you know the food will be of an amazingly high standard. Yes it’s more expensive, but you know it’s the result of years of knowledge, experience and passion coming together to produce a truly show-stopping dish. The same can be said for a professional photographer. When you look at a final set of photographs, you’re seeing all of that knowledge and experience coming together to create something AMAZING. - [Pricing (And Why We Don’t Talk About It)](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/pricing-and-why-we-dont-talk-about-it/): Have you ever wondered why many photographers and videographers don’t have a price list available to view online? Providing your pricing upfront is fairly customary practise in other industries, but in this one, it’s actually the opposite. Most photographers and videographers won’t display their prices ahead of time, and instead will wait for you to contact them so they can generate a bespoke quotation for you. If you’ve never worked like this before, we understand it can be a bit frustrating. - [Why The Equipment Your Videographer Uses Matters](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/why-the-equipment-your-videographer-uses-matters/): For years now there has been a big debate in the world of visual marketing. Does the equipment you use for photography and videography really matter? Some will get bogged down in the semantics of whether the brand you choose matters, and others will argue about the type of equipment making all the difference. At Horizon Imaging we come down on the side of yes, it does matter. - [6 Benefits to Time Lapse Filming](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/6-benefits-to-time-lapse-filming/): Have you ever wished you could condense a few hours, days or even months into a shorter space of time? I think we all have at one point or another! But while it might not be possible in real-time, when it comes to video marketing you absolutely can. The idea behind time-lapse video is simply taking an image every minute, 10 minutes or 20 minutes (the interval can be set exactly), and assembling these frames one after another to create a video that covers the entire duration of a project or event. - [Architectural photographs and virtual tour of remodelled property in Haslemere, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/architectural-photographs-and-virtual-tour-of-remodelled-property-in-haslemere-surrey/): Earlier this summer we were commissioned by a construction company to capture marketing imagery of one of their latest property remodelling / extension projects in Haslemere, Surrey. The extent of the work was far-ranging, from building a new swimming pool, adding a roof terrace, remodelling an existing basement, as well as adding a significant new three-storey extension to one end of the property. - [What factors impact the price of a Matterport Virtual Tour?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-factors-impact-the-price-of-a-matterport-virtual-tour/): Creating our immersive Matterport Virtual Tours is an involved process which varies greatly depending on the size of the property to be scanned, and the complexity of the contents of the building. When quoting to produce our virtual tours, we will generally ask for the square meterage of the property, as this will give us a good idea of the overall size of the space. We’ll also ask where the property is located, how many floors the property has, whether the property is furnished, whether any outdoor spaces or outbuildings need to be captured too, and exactly which parts of the property need to be included in the tour. - [Matterport Virtual Tours and what they can do for your business](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/matterport-virtual-tours-and-what-they-can-do-for-your-business/): When it comes to winning business online, the key is to stand out. But if your ‘wow’ factor can only be seen when someone visits your physical premises, how do you hook them in without it? At Horizon Imaging, we have the answer — virtual tours. A virtual tour can enchant your prospects like few other things can, making them fall in love with your venue (or your business) from afar. They also encourage engagement with your website, and when online engagement could be the difference between you and your competitors, there is no better way to showcase your business. - [Introducing our new Time-Lapse Filming service!](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/introducing-our-new-time-lapse-filming-service/): We have increasingly been asked by our clients whether we can provide long-term time-lapse filming — we are pleased to say that now we can! The following content has been taken from our Time Lapse Filming page from the Services section of our website. There's something fascinating about watching buildings appear out of the ground before your eyes in a matter of minutes. So whether it's capturing an entire construction project from start to finish, capturing the interior fit-out of an office, or capturing a corporate event like an exhibition from set-up to break-down, our state-of-the-art time-lapse cameras will deliver beautiful panoramic imagery of your projects — long or short, indoors or out. - [The 3 key advantages of using a single service provider for your all imaging requirements](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/the-3-key-advantages-of-using-a-single-service-provider-for-your-all-imaging-requirements/): When it comes to choosing any kind of service provider for your business, it can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many things to think about, and so many companies out there you could choose to work with. Things can get particularly complicated if you’re looking to commission aerial or ground-level photography or videography work to promote your business as there are a huge number of providers that can offer bits and pieces of what you need. But to get the most consistent results, and to make the most of your investment, the most cost-effective and hassle-free solution is to use a single provider for everything. - [Aerial photographs and video captured of vast East Midlands Gateway industrial site using drone and manned helicopter](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/aerial-photographs-and-video-captured-of-vast-east-midlands-gateway-industrial-site-using-drone-and-manned-helicopter/): Earlier in the summer we were commissioned by Siren Design, a design agency in London, to capture a comprehensive package of aerial imagery of the enormous East Midlands Gateway project near Derby, Derbyshire. Initially we were planning to use our drone to take the imagery, but we soon realised that this project would need a different approach ... given that a) it was directly next to the busy international East Midlands Airport, and b) the site to be captured was at least a square mile in size! - [Beautiful 6-bed property photographed and filmed in Woldingham, Surrey for Mr and Mrs Clarke Estate Agent](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/beautiful-6-bed-property-photographed-and-filmed-in-woldingham-surrey-for-mr-and-mrs-clarke-estate-agent/): We recently started working with luxury estate agency Mr and Mrs Clarke and our first property to capture was a stunning 6-bed house with breath-taking views over the Surrey Hills — an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). We were asked to provided a comprehensive set of drone aerial photographs, interior photographs, exterior ground-level photographs and external dusk photographs, along with an aerial promotional film for the property. - [Comprehensive package of imagery of luxury new-build home in Fleet, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/comprehensive-package-of-imagery-of-luxury-new-build-home-in-fleet-hampshire/): A few months ago we were commissioned to provide a complete package of promotional imagery of a stunning new-build property in Fleet, Hampshire. Our client, Elsmore Homes, wanted us to provide a set of interior photographs, exterior photographs, a Matterport virtual tour as well as a walk-through property video – or as we call it, “the works”! - [International promotional brand awareness films produced for German telecoms and ICT manufacturer Auerswald](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/international-promotional-brand-awareness-films-produced-for-german-telecoms-and-ict-manufacturer-auerswald/): Over the last few months we have been developing two uniquely different films for German telecoms and ICT manufacturers, Auerswald, as they launch into international markets under the new brand name, FONtevo. The Totem Consulting Group commissioned us to produce a 'UK and International Brand awareness film' focused on a specific Technology market, capturing the innovative and family-owned spirit of the parent company, Auerswald, as well as the international ambitions of the sub-brand, FONtevo. - [Promotional films produced for Willmott Dixon projects in London and Bristol](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-films-produced-for-willmott-dixon-projects-in-london-and-bristol/): During the past year we have been commissioned to produce two promotional films for national construction firm Willmott Dixon — one for the new Village Hotel in Bristol and the other for the new Woodmansterne Secondary School in Lambeth, London. The brief for both films was quite similar — the films had to feature both aerial and ground-level video footage and also needed to include interviews with members of staff who work in the respective buildings. The difference is that the Bristol film was captured after project completion, whilst the Woodmansterne School film was captured twice — at the beginning and towards the end of the construction work. - [Promotional film produced for prestigious Surrey Property Awards in Guildford, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-film-produced-for-prestigious-surrey-property-awards-in-guildford-surrey/): Earlier in the year we were approached to film a prestigious black-tie awards event called the Surrey Property Awards which takes place every year at the G-Live venue in Guildford, Surrey, and this year would be attended by over 400 guests. Our client, The Promotional Edge, were looking to have a short promotional film produced using footage at the 2018 event to be able to use when promoting the 2019 event. As such it had to be short, snappy and engaging, whilst conveying the glitz and glamour of the event, and the calibre of companies it attracts. - [Comprehensive set of marketing imagery captured of a stunning development of flats in Farnham, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/comprehensive-set-of-marketing-imagery-captured-of-a-stunning-development-of-flats-in-farnham-surrey/): We were recently commissioned by luxury property developer Hedge Hunter to take a set of promotional photographs of their latest project, the stunning 'The Bridge' development of flats in the heart of Farnham, Surrey. The striking golden and cream building occupies an enviable position with views over the River Wey and the Gostrey Meadow public park, as well as having a large frontage onto the bustling South Street. The brief was to capture: external photographs of the development, showing how it nestles into the surrounding landscape; internal photographs and a Matterport Virtual Tour of one of their show flats; and a promotional film of the development. - [Architectural photos, promotional film and virtual tour produced for Your Beautiful Kitchen](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/architectural-photos-promotional-film-and-virtual-tour-produced-for-your-beautiful-kitchen/): Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to produce a set of promotional imagery to mark the opening of a luxury kitchen and bathroom design showroom in Mytchett, Surrey — Your Beautiful Kitchen. The brief was simple — they needed a set of beautiful photographs of their new showroom, an engaging promotional film of the showroom to give people a flavour of what it's like to visit, and finally a virtual tour to allow their website visitors to explore the showroom from the comfort of their homes. Ultimately, all this imagery will have the same purpose — to whet the appetites of the website visitors and to encourage them to come and visit the showroom! - [Promotional film produced for Charton Manor Care Home in Farningham, Kent](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-film-produced-for-charton-manor-care-home-in-farningham-kent/): During the course of the last year we've been putting together a promotional film for the Charton Manor Care Home based in Farningham Kent. The video required several visits to record the various activities that Charton Manor wanted to have captured for the video, including interviews with residents and footage of the grounds. The finished video is a great example of how we can provide a full suite of filming and editing services to produce a comprehensive promotional film, as the film combines drone aerial footage, inteviews, static ground footage and sliding dolly shots — all of which come together to produce an engaging introduction to Charton Manor. - [Small but perfectly-formed kitchen extension photographed in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/small-but-perfectly-formed-kitchen-extension-photographed-in-henley-on-thames-oxfordshire/): Sometimes it's the smallest projects which require the most care and attention when photographing them for your portfolio. Such was the case with this small kitchen extension that we photographed for Reading-based architects practice Tait Architects. The brief was to capture the extension from a variety of angles, from inside and out, both during daytime and at dusk to show off the internal and external lighting. This involved visiting the site twice on two separate days as the daytime shots had to be taken in the morning to get sun on the main rear facade of the house and extension, and the dusk shots ... obviously at dusk! - [Comprehensive package of marketing imagery commissioned to promote Farnham Mill Nursing Home in Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/comprehensive-package-of-marketing-imagery-commissioned-to-promote-farnham-mill-nursing-home-in-surrey/): We recently finished one of our largest commissions, producing a comprehensive package of marketing imagery for a brand new care home that's just been built in the outskirts of Farnham, Surrey — Farnham Mill Nursing Home. Our client, MCS Construction, was justly proud of this incredible building and wanted 'the works' when it came to professional marketing imagery to be able to use on their website — we took drone aerial photographs, ground-level photographs both internally and externally, a Matterport virtual tour and we produced a short promotional walk / fly-around video of the whole site! - [Stunning residential extension photographed for MVL Architects in Wormley Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/stunning-residential-extension-photographed-for-mvl-architects-in-wormley-surrey/): Last month we were commissioned to photograph a large residential extension of a stunning countryside property in Wormley, Surrey. From the outside the extension ... well, didn't look like an extension! — so well-executed was the design by Godalming-based MVL Architects. The extension consisted of a remodelled kitchen and open-plan dining area, and a large additional wing including a new entrance, utility rooms, washroom and study. MVL Architects asked us to fully document the extension from both outside an in which involved visiting the site twice to capture the exterior of the property in the most favourable lighting conditions — once in the morning and again in the afternoon. - [Promotional photographs and film produced for Northampton builders merchants Hevey Building Supplies](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-photographs-and-film-produced-for-northampton-builders-merchants-hevey-building-supplies/): Last month we travelled up to Northampton to capture a set of promotional ground-level and aerial promotional imagery for builders merchants, Hevey Building Supplies, who had recently moved to a much larger and more impressive yard. The brief was to create a short film promoting the size of the site, the range of stock and also to capture the 'snake' of delivery lorries leaving the site at 7:15am sharp! We were also asked to take a set of promotional images across the site, both out in the yard and inside their warehouse and shopfront. - [Announcing a brand new service, 3D fully interactive Matterport virtual tours](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/announcing-a-brand-new-service-3d-fully-interactive-matterport-virtual-tours/): In the last month we have started to offer a brand new service which perfectly complements our other property-centric photography and filming services — fully interactive 3D Matterport virtual tours. If you haven't seen one of these tours before, be prepared to be astounded! Matterport tours are created by scanning every space inside a property with a special 3D camera which captures not only visual imagery but also depth data. This data is then compiled into a fully-navigable 3D model of the property in question which can be rotated in 360 degrees, and allows you to jump to any point in the property at the click of a mouse. - [2700 square metres of Royal Hampshire County Hospital roof inspected with drone in Winchester](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/2700-square-metres-of-royal-hampshire-county-hospital-roof-inspected-with-drone-in-winchester/): Last month we were commissioned to inspect over 2,700 square metres of roof structures at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. This was one of our largest aerial inspection projects to date and involved a significant amount of planning as the hospital had to remain open whilst the work was being carried out. To complicate matters further, the hospital is directly opposite Winchester Prison — a very sensitive site with an understandable concern for drones flying anywhere near their land. Thanks to our meticulous planning, the shoot was a complete success, with the entire roof structure being inspected from the air in under 3 hours. This saved our client, surveying firm AECOM considerable time and expense when compared to the only feasible alternative — cladding the entire building in scaffolding! - [Brand new 2018 Drone Aerial Filming showreel released](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/brand-new-2018-drone-aerial-filming-showreel-released/): Our brand new Drone Aerial Filming showreel is long overdue ... but it's finally here! This video incorporates some of the wide range of aerial footage we've shot with our drones over the past 3 years. From construction sites to campsites, business parks to universities, private gardens to lavish weddings, we've filmed it all in glorious high definition (and some of the latest footage is in 4K too). So sit back, grab a coffee and immerse yourself in the incredible bird's-eye perspectives that only our drones can provide. - [Roof of industrial unit inspected using drone and telescopic mast in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/roof-of-industrial-unit-inspected-using-drone-and-telescopic-mast-in-hoddesdon-hertfordshire/): We were recently commissioned to inspect the 1000 square metre roof of an industrial unit in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. The imagery was required to support a condition report which had been commissioned by the potential new owner of the unit, as they wanted to know the state of the building before handing over their money! Our client was structural engineering firm Bond Davidson, and we worked closely with one of their structural engineers to make sure all areas of interest were captured in the survey — these were primarily the condition of the bolts fixing the roof panels in place, the general condition of the roof panels themselves, the condition of the gutters and the condition of the roof around any protrusions through the roof's surface, eg. chimneys. - [Promotional film produced for Willmott Dixon explaining the importance of their Apprenticeships scheme](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-film-produced-for-willmott-dixon-explaining-the-importance-of-their-apprenticeships-scheme/): Last Autumn we were commissioned by national construction firm Willmott Dixon to produce a short film which had to convey the important role played by apprentices in ensuring the continued success of their business. The film brought together footage from a number of different events including the 'Class of 2017 Graduation Ceremony' (for the latest group of apprentices who had successfully reached the end of the scheme) which took place at a large hotel in Greenwich, London, as well as numerous interviews with key members of staff which had been filmed at Willmott Dixon's Cobham office in Surrey in the months leading up to the Graduation Ceremony. - [New Case Study added about combining drone aerial photographs with computer-generated buildings](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/new-case-study-added-about-combining-drone-aerial-photographs-with-computer-generated-buildings/): An increasingly popular use of drone aerial photographs is to combine them with computer-generated models of proposed developments — buildings which don't even exist but can be rendered so realistically that it becomes hard to tell where the aerial photograph stops and the computer-generated model starts. This type of imagery is especially helpful during the planning phase of new developments and for estate agents, allowing them to market as-yet-unfinished properties using highly realistic imagery of the completed projects. We have many years of experience working with property developers and 3D Visualisation Studios to do just this, and computer simulation software has become so advanced that it's almost impossible to tell where reality ends and the computer models start. Want to know more? Read on ... - [Thinking of starting your own drone photography business? Read our guide here](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/thinking-of-starting-your-own-drone-photography-business-read-our-guide-here/): We were recently consulted about what it takes to start and run a successful drone aerial photography business by the money advice website 'Money Magpie'. The following article was written by our Director, David Hogg, as a guide for someone who likes the idea of using drones to make money, but doesn't know where to start, and it covers topics from equipment selection to business strategy, to our own experience of the explosion of demand (and supply) of drone-related services. There's also some history about the formation of Horizon Imaging and how it all began back in 2007 when David built his first drone from scratch! So grab a coffee, and enjoy the article! - [Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful start to 2018](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/wishing-you-all-a-very-happy-christmas-and-a-peaceful-start-to-2018/): This is just a quick note to wish all our followers, sharers, likers, commenters, networkers, collaborators and customers a very happy and restful Christmas, and a peaceful start to the New Year — not long to go now! - [Drone inspection of the inflated roof canopies above The Malls Shopping Centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/drone-inspection-of-the-inflated-roof-canopies-above-the-malls-shopping-centre-in-basingstoke-hampshire/): The Malls Shopping Centre in Basingstoke have been struggling for years with the inflated roof structure above their main courtyard developing mysterious holes, triggering the roof's automated deflation alarms. After some investigation they discovered the culprit(s) — the local seagulls! For some reason they continuously peck at the clear outer membrane until they've punctured it ... and then they abandon their 'creation' and start afresh elsewhere! Numerous attempts have been made to scare the birds away using automated bird deterrents, but so far none of them have proved effective. As such, a quicker and more cost-effective solution was required for locating and identifying the severity of the holes. - [Ultra high-resolution imagery printed onto scaffolding wrap in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/ultra-high-resolution-imagery-printed-onto-scaffolding-wrap-in-the-uk-foreign-and-commonwealth-office/): Earlier in the year we were presented with one of our most challenging projects to date — capturing a 300 megapixel architectural photograph from 5 metres above the Grand Staircase inside the UK Foreign and Commonwealth office! Never a company to turn down such a challenge, we eagerly accepted the project. The ceiling above one side of the Grand Staircase was in need of renovation and the only way to achieve this was to completely scaffold the area from floor to ceiling. However, as the Grand Staircase is one of the most beautiful and photographed areas of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) — and one that is often used as a backdrop for photographs of official visits — the FCO understandably wanted to keep the unsightly scaffolding hidden as much as possible. - [Four striking modern office spaces photographed for FIVE Interiors](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/four-striking-modern-office-spaces-photographed-for-five-interiors/): Over the past 18 months we have been working with leading interior design and fit-out firm, FIVE Interiors, to help them document some of their latest projects for their website and other promotional material. These have ranged from two finely crafted estate agents in north London and Hertfordshire, a stunning modern office re-design for an investment firm in Central London, and the redevelopment of a multi-floor office block in a listed building in the heart of Nottingham town centre. - [New Case Study added about Drone Aerial Photography and Filming at Golf Courses](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/new-case-study-added-about-drone-aerial-photography-and-filming-at-golf-courses/): There aren't many other sites which look quite as spectacular from above as golf courses. From showing off the design and layout of the course, to the proximity to the countryside or local cities, to the challenges provided by individual holes — drone aerial photography and filming is revolutionising the way golf courses are being marketed. You invest heavily in the maintenance and upkeep of your course so it looks its best — make sure your marketing imagery is doing the course justice by investing in professional aerial photography. - [Short film produced documenting beautiful hand-built wooden bureau](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/short-film-produced-documenting-beautiful-hand-built-wooden-bureau/): A long-term family friend recently asked if we could create a short film about something very dear to his heart — a wooden bureau that took him many years of hard work during his spare time to design and build as a gift for his daughter. As he now lives very far from his daughter, he rarely gets the chance to enjoy the fruits of his handiwork and so this video would serve as a permanent reminder of the bureau which he can take with him everywhere. Even if one has no background in carpentry, it's hard not to be bowled-over by the beauty of this piece of furniture. The attention to detail is impeccable, the fit and finish is extraordinary, and the amount of thought that went into its design and execution is plain to see. - [Promotional videos produced for The Dower House Nursing Home in Winchester, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-videos-produced-for-the-dower-house-nursing-home-in-winchester-hampshire/): Earlier in the summer (yes, it seems a long time ago now doesn't it!), we were commissioned by The Dower House Nursing Home in Winchester, Hampshire, to produce a new promotional video as part of a marketing refresh for their website. The video was to include aerial footage of their site to show off its beautiful green setting in the Hampshire countryside, as well ground-level footage taken in and around their care home. - [Birds-eye views of the picture-postcard island of Mauritius taken by drone](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/birds-eye-views-of-the-picture-postcard-island-of-mauritius-taken-by-drone/): It's not often we share posts that are purely of an aesthetically pleasing nature, but here at Horizon Imaging we still enjoy taking aerial photos for the fun of it! Last week our Director, David Hogg enjoyed a holiday in Mauritius and he took a portable fold-up drone with him - the technologically state-of-the-art DJI Mavic Pro. - [Providing elevated marketing imagery of industrial units across London and the South East](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/providing-elevated-marketing-imagery-of-industrial-units-across-london-and-the-south-east/): Over the last few months we have been working with leading commercial property investment firm CBGA Robson to document some of their newest assets in London and across the South East of the UK. The properties have ranged from an empty supermarket store in Eastleigh, Hampshire, a block of units in an industrial park in Rochester, Kent, and a modern office block in Staines, London. The common thread linking all of these sites? The use of our fully-portable 50-foot telescopic mast to take elevated photographs of all the premises to help illustrate their scale and location. - [Suspended canopy in Basingstoke, Hampshire, inspected to identify fixing points for Christmas decorations](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/suspended-canopy-in-basingstoke-hampshire-inspected-to-identify-fixing-points-for-christmas-decorations/): Who would have thought it? Firstly mentioning the word Christmas in the middle of August, and secondly, our telescopic mast holding the key to a Christmas decoration installation on a suspended canopy roof — yes, we were equally baffled! Earlier this month we performed a very simple inspection shoot with our telescopic mast outside The Malls shopping centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire. The task was to take some photographs of the top of a suspended canopy roof to ascertain whether there were suitable fixing points available for ... yes you guessed it, Christmas decorations! - [Stunning landscaped vegetable garden in Petersfield, Hampshire, documented for leading landscape architect](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/stunning-landscaped-vegetable-garden-in-petersfield-hampshire-documented-for-leading-landscape-architect/): Back in 2015 we first visited this amazing landscaped vegetable garden near Petersfield, Hampshire, to take some promotional photographs for its architect, Graduate Landscapes. Now, 2 years later, we revisited the same garden to document how it had matured and developed over the intervening years, and to produce a brand new set of advertising material which could be used on the landscape architect's website. As well as taking a set of aerial and ground-level photographs of the garden, as we did last time, this time we were also commissioned to produce a short aerial and ground-level film to show off the grandeur and beauty of this very unique landscaping project. - [Promotional film produced for stunning new rural property development in Puttenham, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-film-produced-for-stunning-new-rural-property-development-in-puttenham-surrey/): A few weeks ago we were contacted by high-end estate agent Savills based in Guildford, asking if we could produce a short aerial video to help show off the location of a brand new property development that they were selling. The site in question is situated in the beautiful, stereotypically-English village of Puttenham in Surrey which lies in the 'Surrey Hills' — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). As well as producing the video, we also took some aerial photographs which they could use in their printed marketing literature and on their website. - [Promotional video produced for Willmott Dixon’s flagship University of Kent ‘Sibson’ Building](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-video-produced-for-willmott-dixon-s-flagship-university-of-kent-sibson-building/): Earlier in the year we were commissioned by national construction firm Willmott Dixon to take a set of aerial photographs and produce an aerial and ground-based promotional video of one of their latest flagship projects — the 'Sibson' building at the University of Kent. The extraordinary W-shaped building is likely to be entered in for a number of awards, as the project has met / exceeded a number of stringent requirements in terms of energy efficiency and sensitivity to the surrounding environment, and Willmott Dixon were keen to have some striking imagery to represent the project. - [Short talk on Drones given at Penningtons Manches Property Professionals Lunch](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/short-talk-on-drones-given-at-penningtons-manches-property-professionals-lunch/): Last week we had the opportunity of giving a short talk on drones to a gathered audience of over 100 property professionals at the Penningtons Manches Property Professionals Lunch at the West Surrey Golf Club near Godalming, Surrey. The talk was intended to provide a general introduction to the applications of drone technology and some of the regulations which govern their use in the UK. The talk was followed by a brief demonstration of the drone flying outside, culminating in taking an aerial group photograph of all the attendees! - [Architectural marketing imagery taken for national building cladding specialists](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/architectural-marketing-imagery-taken-for-national-building-cladding-specialists/): Over the last few months we have been photographing a number of sites for digital marketing agency OneAgency on behalf of their client Bailey, specialists in roof and general building cladding products. The work involved capturing a mixture of ground-level and aerial imagery of a number of sites where Bailey's products have been used. So far we're only able to show photos from two of these projects, but we will be sharing more once permission has been granted. - [Interviews filmed for Willmott Dixon for their 2017 SECBE award nominations](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/interviews-filmed-for-willmott-dixon-for-their-2017-secbe-award-nominations/): Last month we were commissioned by national construction firm Willmott Dixon to produce a number of interview videos which were to be used as supplementary material during the judging process for the 2017 SECBE Constructing Excellence awards. The videos would act as supporting evidence for the nominated teams / individuals in the categories of Apprenticeships, Sustainability and Young Achievers — after all, it's a lot more convincing to listen to someone else describe how amazing you are than to say so yourself! - [Aerial progress photos capture extensive soil remediation project in Tipner, Portsmouth, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/aerial-progress-photos-capture-extensive-soil-remediation-project-in-tipner-portsmouth-hampshire/): Since December 2016 we have been documenting the progress at a soil remediation site in Tipner, Portsmouth, Hampshire for national remediation experts SoilFix. During each visit we have been capturing plan-view progress photographs of the enormous 6-hectare site, which we have had to split up into 3 separate sections — even when using our widest-angle lens and flying at our maximum permissible altitude of 400ft the site doesn't fit in a single image! - [Beautiful new flint-clad church hall photographed in Redhill, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/beautiful-new-flint-clad-church-hall-photographed-in-redhill-surrey/): Last month we were commissioned by Corniche Builders to photograph one of their latest projects — a brand new flint-clad church hall in Redhill, Surrey. Justifiably proud of the beautiful design and execution of this new building, Corniche were keen to show it off to its best using professional ground-level and elevated photographs. The church hall was built directly next to the existing 19th Century St John the Evangelist Church, and it was key that the design and appearance of the new hall matched the church as closely as possible. - [New weddings case study added to website](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/new-weddings-case-study-added-to-website/): The following blog post has been adapted from a new case study which can be found in the Case Studies section of our website. Planning your big day, or know someone who is? One of our favourite applications of our aerial photography services is providing professional, discreet, 'fly-on-the-wall' (or 'eye-in-the-sky' if you prefer!) aerial perspectives of wedding ceremonies and receptions. - [New schools case study added to website](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/new-schools-case-study-added-to-website/): The following blog post has been adapted from a new case study which can be found in the Case Studies section of our website. One of the prime applications / benefits of aerial photography — be it from our drone or mast — is the ability to capture the size and setting of a site in a single image. - [Telescopic mast helps London structural engineering firm assess risk of sagging facade brickwork](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/telescopic-mast-helps-london-structural-engineering-firm-assess-risk-of-sagging-facade-brickwork/): A few weeks ago we were commissioned to take some inspection photographs of a building in Cricklewood, London, where a roof-level facade of bricks appeared to be sagging under its own weight, as well as bowing inwards towards the rest of the building. The building's owners, understandably concerned, called in a structural engineering firm to investigate. The roof itself was inaccessible without using a cherry picker or scaffolding, so the only option for performing a visual inspection of the facade was either to use a drone or a telescopic mast. As this building was on the corner of a very busy road junction, using the drone was not an option — so it was our mast to the rescue! - [Welcome to our brand new website and showreel!](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/welcome-to-our-brand-new-website-and-showreel/): Well, after a long time in development, I'm very pleased to welcome you to our brand new website! Taking the best bits from our previous website (which had been online since 2014), our new site is now fully responsive (meaning it scales intelligently depending on what device you're viewing it on, be it a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone) and will have significantly more content added to it over the coming weeks and months. - [Christmas event photography at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Whitchurch, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/christmas-event-photography-at-the-bombay-sapphire-distillery-in-whitchurch-hampshire/): In the lead up to Christmas last year (yes it does feel a long time ago now!), we were commissioned by the Bombay Sapphire distillery in Whitchurch, Hampshire, to take some architectural and candid 'people' photographs at one of their many Christmas themed events. The photographs had to capture the glitz and glammer of the venue (which had been especially decorated for the event), the guests enjoying both themselves and Bombay Sapphire's special cocktails which were flowing freely for the duration of the event (!), as well as the general ambience of the event — helping to convey what it's like to attend one of their functions. - [Luxury seaside property development in Cliffsend, Kent, photographed from the ground, mast and drone](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/luxury-seaside-property-development-in-cliffsend-kent-photographed-from-the-ground-mast-and-drone/): Just before Christmas we were contacted by luxury housing developer, Millwood Designer Homes, to photograph one of their developments in Cliffsend, Kent. Millwood were keen to start expanding their range of marketing imagery to include photographs of their entire developments – rather than just photographs of individual houses as they had been using previously. - [We’ve been driving a 100% electric car for the last 18 months – here’s why we think they are the future](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/we-ve-been-driving-a-100-electric-car-for-the-last-18-months-here-s-why-we-think-they-are-the-future/): We live in a very exciting age of personal transport, and I believe this year (2017) will see the greatest surge in interest and demand for potentially the most important technological revolution this decade – the electric car. I have been fascinated by this technology since the first mass-produced pure-electric car was launched back in 2010 – the Nissan Leaf. This fascination took a big leap when, in June 2015, I took out a 2 year lease on my own Nissan Leaf – and I've never looked back! - [Benefits of drone and mast aerial photography in the construction industry for marketing and inspection](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/benefits-of-drone-and-mast-aerial-photography-in-the-construction-industry-for-marketing-and-inspection/): One of the few certainties about Brexit is that the UK is not going to stop building. In his Autumn Statement the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, relaxed the fiscal belt a notch or two in order that the country could remain economically active throughout the process of leaving the European Union. The UK’s property development and construction companies have performed particularly well during the last quarter, reinforcing this point. - [Complex scaffolding installation at the Royal Engineers Museum in Kent documented with our telescopic mast](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/complex-scaffolding-installation-at-the-royal-engineers-museum-in-kent-documented-with-our-telescopic-mast/): Earlier in the autumn we were commissioned by Kent-based scaffolding specialists Scaffolding Access to document a large and very complex installation on the roof of the Royal Engineers Museum in Gillingham, Kent. The existing roof had become too expensive to maintain, so a brand new roof would be installed in its place – but only once the existing roof had been covered by a scaffolding exoskeleton that would allow the building work to proceed regardless of the weather conditions. - [Ground and aerial marketing imagery taken of industrial units in Aldershot, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/ground-and-aerial-marketing-imagery-taken-of-industrial-units-in-aldershot-hampshire/): A few weeks ago we were contacted by a local industrial estate agent who deal with the sale and letting of industrials units and offices in the Hampshire and Surrey area. They were looking to create a listing for an entire site in Aldershot comprising of a number of small industrial units, and they were keen to show off the size and location of the site from the air. - [Promotional video produced for automated swimming pool cover specialist, Glatz Pioneer](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-video-produced-for-automated-swimming-pool-cover-specialist-glatz-pioneer/): A few months ago we were contacted by Glatz Pioneer, a Bedfordshire-based company that specialise in the design and installation of bespoke, automated swimming pool covers. They had just finished installing one of their largest systems to date at the Olympic-sized swimming pools at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, and they were keen to have it documented for their website and to share with potential clients they meet at international trade shows via branded memory sticks. - [What are the benefits of using drone aerial photography for marketing holiday properties?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-are-the-benefits-of-using-drone-aerial-photography-for-marketing-holiday-properties/): Certainty. That’s the one thing above all else that people want when they book their holiday rental property. Aerial photographs help to market a property and show that what you see is what you will get! The market for holiday rentals is a competitive one, especially in popular areas around the UK, for example, the Cotswolds. Although May through to September are peak times for holiday rentals in this country, people start looking for ideas in those ‘down days’ often between Christmas and New Year, - [Two more promotional videos produced for Willmott Dixon sites in Berkshire and West Sussex](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/two-more-promotional-videos-produced-for-willmott-dixon-sites-in-berkshire-and-west-sussex/): National construction firm Willmott Dixon have used our services a number of times over the last few months to document some of their recently completed projects across the South East of the UK. The latest two sites to be filmed were Bohunt School in Worthing, West Sussex and Warfield School in Warfield, Berkshire. The brief for both of the videos was the same – produce a 2-3 minute promotional video comprising both aerial and ground-based footage, that would give someone who hasn't visited the site before an idea of the scale and complexity of the work that had been undertaken. - [Awkward terraced house roof inspected in Hammersmith, London, using our telescopic mast](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/awkward-terraced-house-roof-inspected-in-hammersmith-london-using-our-telescopic-mast/): We were recently commissioned by a building surveyor to take a set of inspection photographs of the roof of a terraced house in Hammersmith, London, and this shoot was a prime example of how our telescopic mast is perfectly suited to performing roof inspections in very cramped conditions where no vehicle-mounted mast could ever reach. - [Drone aerial photographs taken of the beautiful Aldro School for boys in Shackleford near Godalming, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/drone-aerial-photographs-taken-of-the-beautiful-aldro-school-for-boys-in-shackleford-near-godalming-surrey/): Last month we were commissioned to take an updated set of aerial photographs of the beautiful Aldro School for boys in Shackleford near Godalming, Surrey. Since we last visited the school back in October 2014 they have built a brand new sports hall on part of the site, and this was one of the changes they wanted to capture in the new imagery. - [Aerial and ground-based promotional video produced for Two Hoots Glamping site in Alresford, Hampshire](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/aerial-and-ground-based-promotional-video-produced-for-two-hoots-glamping-site-in-alresford-hampshire/): In August we were commissioned by Two Hoots campsite in Alresford, Hampshire, to produce a promotional video that would not only show off their accommodation and facilities, but more importantly their stunning countryside location. As in previous video shoots, we were given completely free reign over how to shoot and produce the video, and one sunny August afternoon we spent several hours on site capturing short video clips from multiple angles - using both our drone and ground-based video cameras - [Our Director has reached the final of the Inspire Business Awards 2016 – ‘Young Business Person of the Year’](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/our-director-has-reached-the-final-of-the-inspire-business-awards-2016-young-business-person-of-the-year/): Following on from the news that we've been nominated for the 'Most Successful Startup of the Year' award by the Surrey Chambers of Commerce, we're delighted to announce that our Director, David Hogg, has also reached the 'Young Business Person of the Year 2016' category final of the Inspire Business Awards, celebrating the achievements of North Hampshire based business owners under 30 years of age. - [Horizon Imaging has recently been nominated as ‘Most Successful Start-up of the Year 2016’](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/horizon-imaging-has-recently-been-nominated-as-most-successful-start-up-of-the-year-2016/): Earlier this month we received the exciting news that Horizon Imaging are one of the 5 finalists in the Surrey Chambers of Commerce 'Most Successful Start-up of the Year' award for 2016! We won't know any more until we attend the President's Awards Dinner on the 20th October 2016, but just to be nominated onto the list is something we're very proud about and is a testament to the level of service we provide to our clients (we were nominated for this award by one of our clients!). - [What are the benefits of using engaging video content on your website and as part of your marketing mix?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-are-the-benefits-of-using-engaging-video-content-on-your-website-and-as-part-of-your-marketing-mix/): 1 BILLION - That’s the number of unique visitors to YouTube every month. If your horizon is just the UK, then I’m afraid that number falls to a mere 20 million! By 2017, video is expected to account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic (according to Cisco). Every indicator on the subject of video points to rapid growth of this type of engaging online content. With people turning to video for their entertainment and information needs, small businesses need to realise that failure to include video in their internet marketing strategies will set them at a disadvantage. If you remain unsure, here are five sound business reasons why you need to consider video content now. - [Promotional video of a recent school extension project in Dover, Kent produced for Willmott Dixon](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/promotional-video-of-a-recent-school-extension-project-in-dover-kent-produced-for-willmott-dixon/): Earlier this year Horizon Imaging was commissioned to produce another promotional video for national construction firm Willmott Dixon who we have worked with on a number of projects in the past. This time we were asked to document a number of extensions and landscape alterations at the Dover Christ Church Academy in Dover, Kent. The video will be used at internal staff meetings to illustrate the variety of work Willmott Dixon undertakes, providing a particularly valuable insight to those members of staff who were not directly involved in the Dover Christ Church Academy project. - [Another beautiful countryside wedding filmed from the air with our drone in Send and Chiddingfold, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/another-beautiful-countryside-wedding-filmed-from-the-air-with-our-drone-in-send-and-chiddingfold-surrey/): At the end of July we were commissioned to film another beautiful Surrey wedding from the air with our drone. This time the wedding ceremony was held at the idyllic St Mary The Virgin Church in Send, Surrey, and the reception at a large private estate in Chiddingfold, Surrey. Once again, the ability of our drone to fly discreetly above the event as it unfolded below has provided the couple with a unique and lasting perspective of their big day. - [Fully-portable telescopic mast inspects the internal brickwork of an old boiler chimney in Brixton, London](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/fully-portable-telescopic-mast-inspects-the-internal-brickwork-of-an-old-boiler-chimney-in-brixton-london/): A few weeks ago Horizon Imaging received a strange request from a fellow drone aerial photography company who were inspecting the exterior of an old public swimming bath in Brixton, London – could we put our telescopic mast inside the old boiler chimney of the swimming bath to inspect the condition of the brickwork?! As our mast is fully portable and sits in its own 4-legged tripod, the answer was "of course we can"! - [Drone imagery combined with CGI buildings to show how a proposed Lidl store will look in Hersham, Surrey](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/drone-imagery-combined-with-cgi-buildings-to-show-how-a-proposed-lidl-store-will-look-in-hersham-surrey/): Earlier in August we were commissioned by Columbian-based 3D visualisation company MONOMO to take some drone aerial photographs of a business park in Hersham, Surrey which is due to be turned into a Lidl supermarket. Once the images were taken, MONOMO would then super-impose a computer-generated 3D model of the new supermarket onto the aerial photographs to give the public an idea of what the final site would look like. As Hersham is such a built-up area, the most difficult part of this shoot was finding suitable locations to fly the drone, as there are many regulations that govern the use of drones in built-up areas. - [Roof of 4-storey block of flats inspected for damage in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey in under an hour](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/roof-of-4-storey-block-of-flats-inspected-for-damage-in-sunbury-on-thames-surrey-in-under-an-hour/): Last month we were commissioned to perform a preventative-maintenance roof inspection of a block of flats in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey. Although the client had initially asked us to use our drone for the inspection, they were unaware of the restrictions that govern where drones can and cannot be used. As this flat was in a busy neighbourhood with roads, cars and other blocks of flats on all sides, we suggested using our fully-portable 50-foot telescopic mast instead. - [What are the benefits of hiring a professional photographer versus trying to do it yourself?](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/what-are-the-benefits-of-hiring-a-professional-photographer-versus-trying-to-do-it-yourself/): I was browsing a mobile phone review web site recently and noticed that some of the leading brands now ship with a 23 megapixel camera. While only two-thirds the resolution of today's top DSLR cameras, it is impressive nevertheless. Reading the review of one particular mobile phone, it described the photos as “... pin sharp, brightly coloured, and full of fine details in both the bright spots and shade. The camera can also be launched and a shot taken faster than with any other mobile device.” So what are the tangible elements that set the professional photographer apart from the keen amateur? - [Beautiful summer wedding ceremony and reception near Guildford, Surrey filmed from the air with our drone](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/beautiful-summer-wedding-ceremony-and-reception-near-guildford-surrey-filmed-from-the-air-with-our-drone/): At the end of May we had the privilege of filming a stunning countryside wedding in the breath-taking surroundings of the Surrey Hills near Guildford. The wedding ceremony itself took place at the idyllic St Martha-on-the-Hill church in Chilworth, Surrey which we actually photographed from the air over 4.5 years ago in December 2011. - [Examples of cloning and the removal of distracting features from photographs in Adobe Photoshop](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/examples-of-cloning-and-the-removal-of-distracting-features-from-photographs-in-adobe-photoshop-gid0pid1/): We are often asked if we are able to remove certain distracting features from the photographs we have taken. These requests can range from removing contrails from the sky, leaves from a lawn or graffiti from walls, and doing so will often make the difference between a good image and one that really shines and helps to keep the viewer's attention fixed on the intended subject. Occasionally, we are also asked if we can add features to photographs which weren't there to begin with, like adding a more attractive sky or digitally 'seeding' a new lawn! - [Drone video captures school children from Greville Primary School in Ashtead, Surrey from above](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/drone-video-captures-school-children-from-greville-primary-school-in-ashtead-surrey-from-above/): And now for something completely different! With most property searches beginning online, it’s important that agents present a property in the best possible way so that potential purchasers start to develop an emotional connection with the properties they’re viewing, and ultimately decide to arrange viewings ... - [Telescopic mast brings new dimension to squash training at Surrey Sports Park, Guildford](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/telescopic-mast-brings-new-dimension-to-squash-training-at-surrey-sports-park-guildford/): Have you ever wondered what it would be like to view a sports game from above to analyse how the players are moving? Perhaps you're a coach of a football or rugby team and want to help improve your players' performance by pointing out their mistakes on slow-motion video taken from an aerial perspective? This is exactly what we did with Jesse Engelbrecht, squash coach at the Surrey Sports Park and owner of the Jesse Engelbrecht Squash Academy. - [Working with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to refresh their stock image library](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/working-with-basingstoke-and-deane-borough-council-to-refresh-their-stock-image-library/): If you were to ask people about the images that came to mind when Basingstoke was mentioned, I expect many would think of office blocks, shops, roundabouts, industrial and housing estates set within a thriving town. However, if you ‘row back’ just a few miles from the town centre, there is a diverse range of landmarks, open spaces, activities and destinations for people to explore and enjoy; all set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Hampshire is known as Jane Austen country. Famous novels such as Pride & Prejudice were drafted from her home in Steventon, just 7 miles from Basingstoke, but a world away in many ways. - [David Hogg gives talk to Godalming Photographic Club on Panorama Photography](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/david-hogg-gives-talk-to-godalming-photographic-club-on-panorama-photography/): Earlier this week, our Director, David Hogg, gave an evening-long talk on the topic of Panorama Photography at Godalming Photographic Club in Surrey. Subtle changes in composition and lighting can make all the difference between attractive and eye-catching photographs, and flat, dull, uninspiring photographs. - [Telescopic Mast Photography Gallery](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/gallery/telescopic-mast-photography-gallery/): Have a browse through some of our latest telescopic mast photography (also known as pole photography) work and try to imagine how different these scenes would have looked from ground level.  - [Drone Filming Gallery](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/gallery/drone-aerial-filming-gallery/): Have a browse through some of our latest drone videography work and enjoy the unique and eye-catching perspective that only a drone can offer — it will make you feel like you're flying like a bird! One of our favourite applications of our aerial photography services is providing professional, discreet, 'fly-on-the-wall' (or 'eye-in-the-sky' if you prefer!) aerial perspectives of wedding ceremonies and receptions.  - [Schools Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/schools-case-study/): One of the prime applications / benefits of aerial photography — be it from our drone or mast — is the ability to capture the size and setting of a site in a single image. In the case of schools, often one of their key assets is their location and / or the size of their grounds. When trying to advertise the benefits of an education at a particular school, the impact of beautiful aerial photographs that show off the site in all its glory should not be underestimated. - [Property Industry Case Study ](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/property-industry-case-study/): The property industry is awash with mediocre photographs – images which are supposed to convince you to purchase something worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pounds. This case study looks at why professional property photography is worth the investment and why cutting the corners of your property photography budget is a false economy.  - [Marketing Industry Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/marketing-industry-case-study/): Drone Aerial Photography has enormous potential to add a fresh twist to marketing campaigns. Seeing a familiar site from an unfamiliar perspective will stop people in their tracks as they wonder – I haven't seen that view before?  - [Golf Course Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/golf-course-case-study/): There aren't many other sites which look quite as spectacular from above as golf courses. From showing off the design and layout of the course, to the proximity to the countryside or local cities, to the challenges provided by individual holes — drone aerial photography and drone videography is revolutionising the way golf courses are being marketed. You invest heavily in the maintenance and upkeep of your course so it looks its best — make sure your marketing imagery is doing the course justice by investing in professional aerial photography.  - [Construction Industry Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/construction-industry-case-study/): Drone Aerial Photography offers a fantastic new way to document the progress of construction projects – from the air. Impress your client with unique photographs of your project as it takes shape, and quickly identify potential problems with the build which might not be visible from ground level. Construction sites can look stunning too!  - [Aerial Inspection Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/aerial-inspection-case-study/): Drones are revolutionising how structures are inspected from the air, making the whole process faster, safer and more affordable. Need to check the condition of a roof, chimney or overhead electricity pylon? Use a drone. For those situations where it isn't possible to use a drone (such as in densely built-up areas), our fully-portable telescopic mast can access structures up to 50 feet above the ground (equivalent to the height of a 4-storey building).  - [Aerial 3D Visualisations Case Study](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/case-studies/aerial-3d-visualisations-case-study/): An increasingly popular use of drone aerial photographs is to combine them with computer-generated models of proposed developments — buildings which don't even exist but can be rendered so realistically that it becomes hard to tell where the aerial photograph stops and the computer-generated model starts. This type of imagery is especially helpful:   - [Time Lapse Filming](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/time-lapse-filming/): There’s something fascinating about watching buildings appear out of the ground before your eyes in a matter of minutes. So whether it’s capturing an entire construction project from start to finish, capturing the interior fit-out of an office, or capturing a corporate event like an exhibition from set-up to break-down, our state-of-the-art time-lapse cameras will deliver beautiful panoramic imagery of your projects — long or short, indoors or out. - [Video Production](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/video-production/): Video is one of the fastest-growing advertising mediums, particularly online. Professionally-produced videos have the power to capture your visitors' attention, connect with them on a personal level (particularly if the video features members of your staff) and succinctly educate them about your business in considerably less time than it takes to read pages of text.  - [360 Virtual Property Tours](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/360-virtual-property-tours/): Matterport Virtual Tours are a fantastic way of exploring buildings and environments from the comfort of your computer, tablet, smartphone — or even Virtual-Reality (VR) headset!  - [Architectural Photography](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/architectural-photography/): Architectural Photography (aka. the photography of buildings), is a deceptively simple branch of commercial photography, and hence it's an area where companies often try to cut corners by doing it themselves. Engaging composition, complementary lighting and careful post-processing are all essential components of high-impact Architectural Photography — remove any one of them and the resulting images will be dull and uninteresting.  - [Telescopic Mast Photography](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/telescopic-mast-photography/): It often does not take a great increase in altitude to gain a completely new perspective on a subject – often 10 to 20 feet is sufficient – less really can be more. Our affordable, go-anywhere Telescopic Mast Photography service will take your marketing imagery up a level.  - [Drone Filming Services ](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/drone-videography/): Drone aerial photography is already revolutionising the way construction projects can be documented — but there's one more way drones can add impact to your online marketing material — with drone aerial video footage. - [Drone Photography Services](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/services/drone-photography-services/): Serving London, and the south of the UK - [Home](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/): Drone Photography Services - [Contact](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/contact/): If you have any questions regarding the services Horizon Imaging offers, you can contact us via the following methods:  - [Blog](https://www.horizonimaging.co.uk/blog/): Welcome to the Horizon Imaging blog!
