Horizon Imaging photographs large-scale scaffolding installation in Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire

Horizon Imaging was recently commissioned to take a set of aerial photographs of a large and complex scaffolding installation at St Joseph’s Church in Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire.

Due to the poor condition of the existing roof, the church was to have a brand new roof installed – not a small task! To keep the church dry during the construction work, a large scaffolding skeleton had to be built around the entire church and then clad in plastic sheeting to keep the water and the weather out. Enter expert project managers Challenge Management and specialist scaffolders Scaffolding Access Ltd who worked together to design and install the incredible skeletal scaffolding structure you can see in the images below.

As the installation was so vast, the only way to truly appreciate its size and complexity was from the air. As the site was bounded on three sides by roads it was not possible to use the drone, so our fully-portable telescopic mast was used instead. The site was photographed three times over the course of a month to document the erection of the complicated scaffolding skeleton. During each visit elevated photographs were taken from every corner of the site so the progress of each section of the project could be easily seen.

As well as photographing the exterior of the building, we also took some photographs inside the church, where something equally amazing was happening – a so-called ‘bird cage’ scaffolding structure had been erected to allow complete and unimpeded access to all the walls and ceiling of the church for renovation purposes. I had never seen anything like it – it was like walking into a jungle of steel bamboo plants!

The project management company, Challenge Management, recently sent us this kind testimonial about the work we undertook for them at St Joseph’s Church:
We have been absolutely delighted with the service we have received from Horizon Imaging. Not only has their expertise helped to show our work at its best, it has helped our clients to see how we conduct our business too. I have known David for many years and he never fails to produce work of a very high standard.
