Over the last few months we have been developing two uniquely different films for German telecoms and ICT manufacturers, Auerswald, as they launch into international markets under the new brand name, FONtevo.

The Totem Consulting Group commissioned us to produce a 'UK and International Brand awareness film' focused on a specific Technology market, capturing the innovative and family-owned spirit of the parent company, Auerswald, as well as the international ambitions of the sub-brand, FONtevo.

Brand Awareness Film — Overview

Over the last few months we have been developing two uniquely different films for German telecoms and ICT manufacturers, Auerswald, as they launch into international markets under the new brand name, FONtevo.

The Totem Consulting Group commissioned us to produce a 'UK and International Brand awareness film' focused on a specific Technology market, capturing the innovative and family-owned spirit of the parent company, Auerswald, as well as the international ambitions of their sub-brand, FONtevo.

This film was to include interviews with several directors of Auerswald, as well as feature detailed footage from around their in-house manufacturing, assembly and testing facilities.

Using our experience in creating short, engaging promotional films that include client testimonials and interviews, as well as walk-around video footage, we worked closely with Totem Consulting Grouptotem to create a plan of how the video should be structured. This plan resulted in a detailed schedule which was used to coordinate the filming at the Auerswald facilities in Brunswick near Hanover in Northern Germany.

Brand Awareness Film — The Shoot

As our first international shoot, the first challenge was how to get all our equipment safely over to Germany for the 2 days of filming! After sourcing two large and sturdy flight cases, they were carefully packed with cameras, tripods, lighting equipment and stabilised gimbals, and after explaining to the rather puzzled security desk what they contained, the cases were granted passage to Germany!

Fresh after a nights sleep, we started by setting up the lighting and camera equipment for filming the first of the three interviews. For each of the interviews the setup included two cameras (one of which was mounted to a motorised pan/tilt slider which tracked the subject as the camera continually moved back and forth), a direct 'key light', a softened 'fill light' and a wireless lapel microphone to record the audio.

For variety, the three interviews were each conducted in different locations:

In a large meeting room
In the office of one of the Directors and
In the assembly and testing area of the factory floor

The weight of all the equipment used for the interview filming soon mounted up, and meant that our two 32kg flight cases were both within 100g of 32kg! ... and we also took full advantage of the overly-generous 23kg weight limit for the carry-on luggage, all of which was packed to the gills with equipment!

Behind-the-scenes photos of the various interviews we filmed can be seen below.

As well as the interview footage, we also spent many hours walking around the various manufacturing, assembly and testing areas of the Auerswald factory, capturing a variety of shot 'B-roll' footage which would be shown whilst the audio from the various interviews was playing in the background to the final film.

To capture this footage we used a 3-axis stabilised camera gimbal. This smart piece of equipment smooths all the bumps and judders from what is otherwise a hand-held camera, and it gives the operator great creative freedom to move around the subject without having to worry about keeping the camera perfectly stable.

Brand Awareness Film — The Result

Once all the footage had been captured and we were back in the studio in England, the footage was painstakingly cut together to tell a specific story. The structure of the video had to be as follows:

To introduce the Auerswald company, and to convey their customer-focused ethos and family-owned spirit
To describe the types of products that Auerswald designs and manufactures
To introduce FONtevo, the international brand name for Auerswald
To explain the benefits that end users will gain by using Auerswald products

Dealer Day Film

Our clients, Totem Consulting Group and Auerswald / FONtevo were delighted with the promotional film we produced for them. The intention of producing this film had always been to show it at a forthcoming 'Dealer Day' where Auerswald were 'launching into' the UK market by means of a half-day event attended by numerous UK-based resellers.

Following on from the success of the promotional film, and to ensure the style of these new videos remained consistent, we were then commissioned by Totem Consulting Group to produce a short overview film of the Dealer Day, incorporating short clips taken before, during and after the event, as well as interviews with a number of the stakeholders and attendees.

Our client, Totem Consulting Group, were delighted with the services we provided during the production of these two films, and recently sent us the following kind testimonial:
“Totem Consulting Group have been working with Horizon Imaging this year to provide a number of videos for our clients. Recently we developed a brand awareness film for one of our German clients, and working with Horizon Imaging undertook all aspects of the process from story-boarding, interviewing key board members, filming walk-through footage of the client's manufacturing facilities in Germany, through to the delivery of a very focused, professional and on-target film which has become central to our client's international marketing campaign.

Along with raising the Global brand awareness for our client, this film was developed to present at a product launch event in the UK where we commissioned Horizon Imaging to produce a summary film of the day. This included filming speakers, panel discussions and vox pop interviews with attendees, along with providing the AV equipment for delivering a very successful day.

Horizon Imaging are very professional and delivery-focused, which has made the whole process very easy and very effective. Their attention to detail is excellent along with understanding what a client needs and suggesting creative ideas that have been very helpful. In all our videos they have used an amazing array of equipment and always go above and beyond to ensure every project runs smoothly whilst working alongside our team. We look forward to working with the Horizon Imaging team again on future projects.
