Virtual Tours

Virtual Tours

Virtual tours are a fantastic way of exploring buildings and environments from the comfort of your computer. By capturing photographs looking in all possible directions, stitching the images together and then adding interactive elements, virtual tours give the viewer a much more immersive experience than photographs or videos ever could.

Are you looking to give your customers an immersive and interactive experience and a unique new way to explore your attraction / property?
Perhaps you are keen to add virtual tour computer terminals to the ground floor of your attraction to allow disabled visitors to explore other floors of your attraction if they are not easily accessible?
Maybe you are trying to differentiate yourself from other property marketing companies by making your property viewing experience far more engaging and interactive?
Or you have a large and complex site and you want to allow your visitors to explore the site using a virtual tour first to familiarise themselves with the layout before they actually visit it for real?
Below you will find a featured-packed example of a Horizon Imaging Virtual Tour. Use your mouse to navigate through this 7-node (7-location) Tour around a Kefalonian Holiday Villa – don't forget the sun-cream! Please note that we have included a large number of features in the first node of this Tour, the Driveway, which are not present elsewhere in the Tour. These include interactive information, video and audio hotspots.
Please note that the software used to generate these Tours is extremely powerful, and the virtual Tour above by no means showcases all the features that are available. Here is a list of some of the wide range of features supported by the software:
All photographs are blended from multiple exposures (a technique called High Dynamic Range imaging) which retains detail in both very bright and very dark areas, guaranteeing a more natural look and feel to the panoramas.
Tours can be optimised for viewing on tablet and smartphone web-browsers as well as desktop computers using HTML5 and/or Flash. The tour above is optimised for desktop computers due to the number of mouse-hover elements.
Tours can be viewed offline for computers or tablets which do not have an internet connection (eg. interactive exhibits in a museum or historic house).
Unlimited number of Tour nodes.
Interactive Tour map using either a static image (as in the example above), or fully integrated with a real-time Google Maps feed. A set of selectable maps can also be used to represent Tour nodes across several floors of a building.
Anything can be used to take you to another node in the Tour, including points on a map, hotspots or images in the panorama.
Video, audio and still images can be embedded anywhere in the Tour. They can pop out of the panorama and fill the screen, and/or be viewed 'in situ'. For example, a video could be superimposed onto a blank computer screen in a panorama, or artificial posters could be pinned to the wall of a virtual room and then scale to fill the user's screen when they are clicked.
Multiple ways to trigger interactive elements – they can load automatically or be triggered by hotspots. For example, an audio file containing a narration could automatically start playing when you jump to a particular node, or when you click on a speaker icon next to an item of interest.
So-called 'gigapixel' ultra-high-resolution panoramas can be navigated smoothly using multi-resolution image files – just like Google Maps loads more detailed maps as you zoom in, the panorama viewer can also load more detailed images as you zoom in. This saves considerable bandwidth compared to loading an ultra-high-resolution panorama in one go.
The 'skin' (the interface including the buttons, text boxes, logos, etc) is fully customisable for every project.
High-resolution photographs can be composed and exported from the Tour panoramas and used to complement your marketing material (as on the right).

A greatly overlooked benefit of virtual tours is being able to compose and export photographs using virtual tour imagery. Like this bedroom 'photo' from a Snowdonia Holiday Cottage.

Whilst we have only produced a limited number of Virtual Tours so far, they show the enormous potential of this type of interactive media and the quality of work we produce. We are actively looking for new clients who are interested in having Virtual Tours produced for their company, so please let us know if you are interested or have any questions.
"We contacted Horizon Imaging because we wanted to make our website more dynamic. They created panoramic views and a virtual tour so future guests can have a realistic idea of the residence. We are really happy about the result and enjoyed working with David."
